Clyde Clifton Hoffman, 81, a U.S. Air Force veteran and resident of Lexington, went to be with his Lord the morning of March 17, 2024. He was born January 8, 1943, in Lexington to James Clifton Hoffman and Lillian Elizabeth (Sidden) Hoffman. He graduated from North Davidson Senior High School in 1961 before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1965. It was during his service that he was introduced to his future wife, Lois Hoffman. They shared many letters over many months, all of which were treasured and re-read throughout their 54-year marriage. Following his years of service, he went on to work for R.J. Reynolds for 30 years, retiring in 1999. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, hunting and tractors. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Sherry Hoffman Sink. He is survived by his wife, Lois; daughter Gina (Scott) Quinn; son Jonathan (Melissa) Hoffman; one brother, Rick Hoffman; one sister, Emily Hanes; his 7 grandchildren, Bryan (Amanda) Owens, Amber (William) Allison, Cody Sink, Kassie Tobin, Mikayla and Madison Sink, and Waylon Hoffman; as well as 7 great-grandchildren, McKenna and Montana Cummings, Ben, Eli, and Daniel Allison, Avery Owens, and Ellie Allison. Clyde deeply loved his wife and family. He was a devoted Christian and faithful member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church in Lexington, where he served as a Sunday school teacher for over 40 years. A visitation with family will be held at the Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington on March 19, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. The funeral service will be held at Reedy Creek Baptist Church on March 20, 2024, at 11:00 am; graveside service with military graveside rites immediately following.
