Colonel Newton Rn Hardin

Colonel Newton R.N Hardin, US Air Force (Retired), 94, of Lexington, died Monday, December 07, at Lexington Medical Center. A private funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday December 17th in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with services conducted by Rev. Dr. Ray N. Howell III and will be livestreamed at WWW.facebook.com /Davidson.funeral home. Burial will be 1:00 PM in Salisbury National Cemetery with full military honors. RN was a native of Rutherford County the oldest son of Newton and Novella Hardin. He was a graduate of Gardner Webb, Carson Newman and New Orleans Theological Seminary. He served three years in the Navy and 35 years in the United States Air Force Chaplain service, retiring with the rank of Colonel. After retirement he supplied in several churches throughout Davidson County, and served on Biblical Recorder Committee. He loved to travel and made many trips. He was first married 63 years to Audrey Smith Hardin who preceded him in death on December 11, 2009. He was also preceded by his parents, brother, Ray Hardin and sister Martha Elizabeth Hardin Daniel. He is survived by his wife Kay Yelton Mathis Hardin of the home; sons Randall Hardin (Vicki) of Kingsport, TN and Lonnie Allison Hardin (Laura) of Rockledge Fla; step-daughter, Cindy Mathis Prince (Toby) of Lexington; grandchildren, Karley Fournier (Michael), Kasey Shrivstav (Athul) and Noah Hardin. Step Grandchildren Kaylynn Prince and Taylor Prince; great grandchildren Lilly Fortier, Brody Fortier and Ayran Shrivstav. He is also survived by his brother and sister, Wayne S. Hardin and Rachel G. Hardin McAbee both of Forest City NC. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to, Lexington Housing CDC P.O. Box 933 Lexington NC 27293, First Baptist Church, 201 West Third Avenue, Lexington, NC 27292, or the Salvation Army, P. O. Box 770 Lexington, NC 27293. Due to theCovid 19 pandemic, attendees are asked to practice social distancing and wear a mask.
