Colonel Pardue

Colonel Sherman Pardue, 90, of Sunbridge of Lexington, formerly or Rockway Drive, died Monday, March 5, 2007, at Lexington Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Gethsemane Baptist Church, where he was a member, by the Rev. Larry Michael. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Pardue was born in Wilkes County on May 9, 1916, to Will Pardue and Ada Check Pardue. He was a retired employee of Wellington Hall Furniture. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Edna Wilcox Pardue; a son, Howard Pardue; four brothers, Anzil Pardue, Albert Pardue, Paul Pardue and Marvin Pardue; and a sister, Ethel Marion. Surviving are his wife, Joyce Corder Pardue of Sunbridge of Lexington; one son, Carl Pardue and his wife, Gaye, of Linwood; one daughter, Amanda Pardue and her husband, Johnny, of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Trent Pardue, Tracy Pardue, Chris Pardue, Brian Pardue, Joshua Pardue, Chelsea Pardue and Lynn Bowers; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials may be directed to Gethsemane Baptist Church, 622 Hill Everhart Road, Lexington, NC 27295.
