Connie Bailey Boner

Connie Bailey Boner, 86, of Charlotte, formerly of Lexington, died Monday, June 30, 2008, at Liberty Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Charlotte, after several years of declining health. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2008, at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. She was born May 31, 1922, to Nathan L. Bailey and wife, Tilmont Beck Bailey. She was a 1942 graduate of Lexington High School and a 1945 graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. Ms. Boner retired from the Davidson County Health Department in 1987 after more than 37 years of service as a public health nurse. During her service, she received numerous awards, including the 1987 Citation of Merit Award from the NC Public Health Association and the 1986 Employee of the Year award and 1984 Director’s Award from the Davidson County Health Department. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Boner; a brother, Nathan J. “Pete” Bailey; and a sister Carolyn Bailey Simmons. She is survived by two sons, Richard D. Boner and wife, Margaret, of Charlotte, and Michael L. Boner and wife, Maureen, of Phoenix, Md. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Julie Boner and Jason Boner of Charlotte and Tucker Boner and Bailey Boner of Phoenix, of Maryland. The family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at Davidson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mercy School of Nursing Alumni Scholarship Fund, 701-B Forest Point Circle, Charlotte, NC 28273. Davidson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
