Virginia Carlene (Connie) Weatherman Edwards, 75 of Rockcrusher Road, Lexington died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008 at her home. She fought a difficult but courageous eight year battle with ALS “Lou Gehrigs” disease.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008 at Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Burt Williams officiating.
Mrs. Edwards was born February 11, 1932 in Yadkin County to Virgil Weatherman and Dora Southard Weatherman. A member of Macedonia United Methodist Church, she was retired from the Davidson County School System. Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her parents; a stepfather, J.D. Cheek; a son, Billy Joe Edwards, Aug. 3, 2006; a brother, Jack Weatherman; and two sisters, Gay Ashley and Frances Wilson.
Surviving are her husband, Willie Freddy Edwards of the home; a son, Gene Edwards and wife, Lavon of Thomasville; two daughters, Debbie Beck and husband, Johnny, Linda Jarrett and husband Chris all of Lexington; five grandchildren, Brenton Jarrett and companion, Roxanna Monday, Greg Jarrett and wife, Shannon, David Beck and wife Jennifer, Chip Edwards and wife, Erin B., and Erin Edwards; nine great grandchildren and a sister, Sallie Ashley of Jonesville, NC
The family will receive friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME and other times at the home.
