Curtis Doyle Watts, Sr.

Curtis Doyle Watts Sr., 52 passed away on June 8, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Winston Salem.  Curtis was born on May 23, 1966 in Davidson County, to James Hollis Watts and Mary Lane Watts. He was owner and operator of Steelhorse Trucking and a proud former member of the Lexington Confederate Gypsy’s MC. He is preceded in death by his parents. He adored all his grandbabies, special recognition to his brothers of the heart and soul; Will Will, Tiny, Crow, Tattoo & Crazy Frank. There are so many more it would take a book to list them all. And to Tammy Lane Romero for her compassionate heart and love they had for each other. His passion for trucking and motorcycles was beyond measure. He loved the danger and thrill of hauling logs and having his “knees in the breeze” on Black Beauty.  He was a great man who was loved by many folks, had a heart of gold and would do anything to protect his loved ones. He enjoyed fishing and was a lifelong motorcyclist and he would say “He lived to ride and rode to live.” He was a passionate truck driver and always had life by the horns up until unexpected health issues ended his trucking career, was the toughest man known by many an fighter who fault as hard as he could until the great Lord above opened his arms to bring him home for peace and comfort.  Surviving is his wife, Shari Louie Watts of the home; sons, LC Watts (Brandi), Brandon Watts (Alisa), Jon Jon Watts, Jamie Watts (Kimberly), all of Lexington; Danny Watkins (Tammy) of Pinnacle, NC; daughters, Jennifer Watts (Zeno Lopp ), of Lexington; Kristen Wertz (JL Handy), of Thomasville; brother, James Watts of Raleigh, NC; sisters, Teresa Yenaro (Gary), Cindy Dorsett both of Lexington and Candy Dorsett of SC. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.  Per Curtis’s wishes he wanted to be cremated and to have a gathering in his memory at a later date.  Davidson Funeral Home is serving the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
