David Ray Murphy, age 63 of East Homestead Drive, Lexington passed away Sunday morning September 16, 2012 at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston Salem, after a sudden illness.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Thomasville with Rev. Eric Disher officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home, from 12:30 until 1:30 Wednesday, prior to the Graveside Service.
Ray was born in Davidson County August 8, 1949 to Wesley Vestal “Red” Murphy and Betty Jo Michael Murphy. He was a self employed carpenter; a veteran of the US Army having served in Vietnam in 1970-1971. He was preceded in death by his father; wife, Cathy Charleen Leonard Murphy in 2002.
Surviving are son, Jason David Murphy of Lexington; mother, Betty Jo Michael Murphy of Lexington; sisters, Linda Lopp and husband Robert of Lexington, Ann Hobach and husband John of Seminole, FL; brother, W. Reid Murphy of Lexington; step-daughter, Brandy Nadeau and husband Joshua of Aiken, SC; step-son, Christian Jenkins and wife Diane of Kernersville, NC; two step-grandchildren, Ranae Tuttle and Zack Jenkins.
