Daisy Lee Harper Brown, 96, of Snider Avenue, died Monday, May 2, 2011, at Lexington Health Care.
The funeral will be 11 am Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with her grandson, the Rev. Tom Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am at the funeral home prior to the service and other times they will be at the home of her son on Fair Circle in Lexington.
Mrs. Brown was born October 7, 1915, in Eastland Texas, to Willie Wiley Harper and Lottie Elizabeth Rouck Harper. She was a member of Clear View Baptist Church and retired from Jewel Cotton Mill. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husbands, Charlie Willard Beck in 1943 and Walter Taft Brown in 1991; brothers, Carl Harper, Hulin Harper, Dennis Harper, Harold “Shorty” Harper, and Harvey Harper; and sisters, Rozelle Lanier and Frances Byrd.
Surviving are sons, Donald Willard Beck and wife, Deanna, of Lexington and Gary Ray Beck and wife, Juanita, of Silver Valley; daughters, Elizabeth Mae Beck Morgan and husband, Bobby, of China Grove, and Mary Ann Altman of the home; a stepson, Harold Brown and wife, Peggy, of Thomasville; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Willie Mae York of Thomasville. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
