Dale Gordon Cox, 81 of Davidson County died Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center after a brief illness.
A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Faith Missionary Alliance Church with the Rev. Michael Gates and Rev. Albert Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Cox was born on October 13, 1927 to Sidney and Pearl Forrey Cox in Garden City, MN. He served in the US Navy and the US Army. He graduated from Mankato State Teachers College and from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for Western Electric and retired from AT&T.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Mona Faye Cox; daughters: Karen Lawrence and husband Charlie of Winston-Salem, and Anne Cox Rinier and husband Guy of Stuart, Fl.; stepdaughter, Angela Jones and husband Stan Petsuck; stepson Andre Bass all of Winston-Salem and 9 grandchildren. A sister, Darline Ward and husband Ted, a brother Lloyd Cox all of Mankato, MN also survive him.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel, Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, that Memorials be made to Faith Missionary Alliance Church, 1077 Gumtree Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27107 or American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Dr., Greensboro, NC 27407.
