Dale Miller Griggs

Dale Miller Griggs of Midway, passed away suddenly Wednesday morning at Forsyth Medical Center. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Midway United Methodist Church with the Pastor John Woods and Rev. Danny Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Griggs was born in Forsyth County on June 29, 1951 to Johnnie Lyde Griggs, Sr. and Florence Miller Griggs. He was a graduate of Appalachian State University, a musician – entertainer, a partner of a North Carolina Century Farm, and a director on the advisory board of Industrial Federal Bank. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Johnny Lyde Griggs, Jr. Surviving are his wife Dana Reece Griggs of the home, a son Brandon Griggs and his wife Marissa; two brothers, Lynn Griggs and his wife Janet; Glenn Griggs and his wife Loretta all of Midway. Dale’s love and kindness were apparent toward his family, friends, and clients. He especially enjoyed working with seniors. Dale was the preferred musician for many weddings, receptions, special occasions and fundraisers. His energetic and fun loving nature was contagious. When he was around young people, it was as if he was one of them. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Friday night in the Christian Fellowship Center of Midway United Methodist Church.
