Dale Bryce Hedrick, a beloved father, dedicated teacher, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2025, just shy of his 87th birthday.
Born on Wednesday, March 30, 1938, Dale spent his life enriching others with his wisdom, kindness, and unwavering spirit. He was the cherished son of John Clifford Hedrick and Goldie Beck Hedrick, both of whom preceded him in death. Also preceding in death are his wife, Kathryn Hedrick, sister, Willie Hedrick Hinkle, and brother-in-law, John Conrad.
Surviving are his children, Christopher Hedrick (Angie), Thomas Hedrick (Keri), Dr. Cynthia King (David); sister, Minnie Conrad; brother-in-law, Gene Hinkle; grandchildren (Andrew, Bailey, Evan Paxon, Jacob) and the mother of his children, Janice Parks Hedrick; step-children, Cynthia Clinard (Ronnie), Isabelle Mize (Billy), Douglas Cook (Geoffrey Slater); nieces and nephews, Micky Conrad (Carol), Dana Hinkle, Kim Conrad Troutman (Bob), Alison Fails (Bruce), Todd Conrad (Lori); and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Dale was a devoted educator. He found his calling as a school teacher in the Davidson County Schools, where he inspired generations of students with his passion for learning and his compassionate teaching style. In addition to his career in education, Dale proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserves. Dale's life was a testament to the values of service, love and integrity. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through his teaching, his community involvement, and his enduring commitment to his family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Memorial Evangelical & Reformed Church, E. Old Hwy 64, Lexington. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive family and friends from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292. The family would like to give a special thank you to all the Hospice staff for their support and care. Davidson County Meals on Wheels, Bernice Benton, his live-in caregiver and Phyllis Cook.
Dale Bryce Hedrick will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, but the lessons he imparted and the love he shared will remain in our hearts forever.
