Dale Craver Leonard

Dale Craver Leonard, 79, of Leonard Road, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at The Chapel of First Baptist Church, where he was a member, by Dr. Ray Howell III. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3074. He was born May 25, 1927, in Davidson County to Fred O. Leonard Sr. and Daisy Craver Leonard. He was a 1944 graduate of Welcome High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was en route to Japan when the war ended. He retired from Lexington Furniture Industries after 36 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Stokes Carroll Leonard and Fred O. Leonard Jr. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Frances Peninger Leonard of the home; one son, Randy Leonard and his wife, Cindy, of Lexington; and one grandchild, Jonathan Leonard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church at P.O. Box 436 Lexington, N.C. 27293. The family would like to thank the Welcome Fire Department and Palliative Care, ninth floor of Forsyth Hospital for all of their care and support.
