Dale Dewain Spilman II, age 65 of Lexington passed away Monday, December 13, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. A funeral service will be 10:00 am Friday, December 17, 2010 at Grace Episcopal Church with Rev. Tom King officiating. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery of Salisbury with United States Marine Corps military funeral honors. The family will receive friends after the service in the church parlor. Dale was born May 25, 1945 in Oklahoma City, OK to Dale D. Spilman and Betty Goddard Spilman. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. He was the owner and operator of Piedmont Home Services. Dale proudly served his country with two tours in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam conflict. He received numerous service awards including two purple hearts. He was a graduate of Star Spencer High School in Oklahoma City and of Winona State University in Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife Myra Lambeth Spilman of the home; his mother, Betty G. West of Moore, OK, his brothers; Peter Keith Spilman and wife Carol of Jenks, OK, James J. West and wife Elaine of Richmond Hill, GA, his sisters; Toni S. McCord of Moore, OK, Barbara W. Harmon and husband Jerry of Goldsby, OK, his nieces; Shannon McCord, Sheila McCord, Ashley Fisher and husband Darrell and his great nephew; Nate Fisher. It is the request of the family that memorials be made to Grace Episcopal Church 419 South Main Street Lexington, NC 27292 Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is serving the Spilman family.
