Dalford Dean Owens, Sr., age 64 of Tilden Nursery Rd., Lexington died Tuesday March 28, 2006 at 8:15 AM in Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center after an extended illness
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday at Tyro United Methodist Church where he was a member, conducted by Rev. Tim Robert. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery
Mr. Owens was born in Davidson County on October 31, 1941 to Robert Abram Owens and Emma Polly Williams Owens. Before retirement he was co-owner of Owens & Reich Concrete. He also graduated from Winston Salem Barber School and was a member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks in Lexington and a member of the High Rock Lake River Rats. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Hazel Marie Essick.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Phillips Owens of the home, sons Rondall Lee Owens and wife Allison of Lexington and Dalford Dean Owens, Jr. and wife Dr. Jennifer Cheryl Love of Memphis, TN. Daughters,Tracy Diane Rutledge and husband Anthony “Tony” Rutledge, who was his best friend and hunting partner, of Albany, GA and Kelly Susanne Owens of Fredericksburg, VA GrandchildrenOlivia Owens; Griffin Owens; Hayden Owens; Annabelle Owens; Molly Rose Owens and Henry Dalford Owens A brother, Bobby Owens of Lexington.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel and other times at the home on Tilden Nursery Rd.
