Dan Jones

Larry Dan Jones, 69, of Lexington, died Sunday, February 19, at WG “Bill” Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury.  A graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, at Forest Hill Memorial Park with Preacher Clyde Akers officiating. Burial will follow. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home prior to the service.  Mr. Jones was born May 17, 1947, in Davidson County, to Stanford Jarvis Jones and Sula Marie Koontz Jones. He served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne during the Vietnam War where he was awarded a Purple Heart for his service   and later he retired from PPG Industries where he had served as Shipping Supervisor. He enjoyed hobbies such as fishing, golfing, beach music and Elvis Pressley music. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother, Rayvon Jones; sisters, Brenda Jones Gathings and Myrna Jones; nephew, Duane Mode; and special friend Cathy.  Surviving are brother, Jerry Jones of Lexington; sister-in-law, Joanne Jones; nieces and nephews, Josie Jones, Justin Jones, Deanna Smith Darryl Jones  and David Mode; great-nieces and nephews, Emily and Caitlin Mode, Steven Jones and Austin and Lauryn Smith; and a host of friends.  Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407.
