Dan Gray Ward, 73, of Greensboro Street Ext., died suddenly Wednesday, October 1, 2008, at Thomasville Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday Oct. 4, 2008, at Pilgrim Reformed Church, where he was a member, by the Revs. Barry Surratt and George Fidler. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Ward was born in Davidson County on May 21, 1935, to John Daniel Ward and Lottie Fritts Ward. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of Davidson County Senior Choir. He was retired from Dupont. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Buford Ward; and a sister, Jackie Farabee.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Fortner Ward of the home; a son, Kevin Ward and wife Terri, of Thomasville; a daughter, Cynthia Orman and husband, Dean, of Thomasville; four grandchildren, Amber Tucker and husband, Barry, Jed Ward Orman, Jenny Ward, and Joe Daniel Ward; one great-grandchild, Ella Grace Tucker; brothers, Ed Ward and wife, Sarah, his twin brother, John R. Ward and wife, Dorcas, and Archie Ward and wife, Ruth, all of Lexington; sisters, Edith Truitt, Ruth Jolly, Doris Hedrick and husband, Willis, Kaye Everhart, all of Lexington, and Mary Workman and husband, David, of Thomasville; brother-in-law, Robert Farabee of Lexington; a sister-in-law, Margaret Q. Ward of Lexington; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
