Dan "Pop" York

Dan “POP” York, age 89 of Friendship Church Road, passed away Thursday night (October 22, 2009) at Hinkle Hospice House.  Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday (October 25, 2009) at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Patrick Snow officiating.  Burial will follow in Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery.   Dan was born in Davidson County, January 15, 1920 to Ransey L. York and Roberta Mock York.  He was a retired employee of Dixie Furniture.  A member of Friendship United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men and served on various committees over the years. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Frank, John, Lonnie and Fred York; three sisters, Nettie Essick, Stamey Perrell and Wilma Walser.   Surviving are: his wife, Gertrude Leonard York, of the home; two sons, Ricky York and wife Bonnie and Danny York all of Lexington; three grandchildren, Cameron, Stacy and Jason; four great-grandchildren, Daniel, Jessica, Kaylee and Emilee.   The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home prior to the service and at other times at the home.   In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC  27292   Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
