Daniel "Dan" Arthur Atwood

Daniel “Dan” Arthur Atwood age 75 of Lexington passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be 3:00 pm Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at North Lexington Baptist Church with Pastor Gavin Pratt. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Davidson County Fireman’s Honor Guard. No formal visitation will be held. Dan was born October 10, 1937 in Davidson County to Charles Aaron Atwood and Ruth Porter Atwood. He was a retired from Fletcher Machine and Reeds Fire Dept. A member of North Lexington Baptist Church. He Served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Barbara Nell Crook Atwood, a sister Eva Dorsett. Surviving are his son Rodney Atwood (Kirby) of King, NC, his daughter; Gaye Shipton (Jeff) of Lexington, his sister; Jody Smith of Lexington, A grandchild; Jordan Shipton. In lieu of flowers send memorials to Hospice of Davidson County 200 Hospice Way Lexington NC 27292. Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is assisting the Atwood family.
