Daniel Leo Edwards, Jr. age 67 of Oakwood Circle, Lexington died 2:40 PM Monday at his home after an extended illness of several years and serious for three weeks. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel conducted by Rev. Dan Stowe and Chaplin Fred Moretz with burial to follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3074. Mr. Edwards was born April 17, 1939 in Forsyth County to Daniel Leo Edwards Sr. and Irene Foster Edwards. He was a retired truck driver having worked for Murrow’s Transfer in Thomasville. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in Vietnam, two tours in Korea and the Army National Guard. Mr. Edwards was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3074; American Legion Post 8; and Amvets Post 13. He is survived by his wife Sarah Lou James Edwards of the home, son Monty Joseph Riggs Sr. and wife Sue of Tyro, daughter Laurie Edwards of Winston-Salem; Katie Edwards of the home; and Melissa Riggs of Lexington. A grandchild Monty Joseph Riggs Jr. Brothers Steve Edwards of AL; Jerry Edwards of TN.and sisters Jane Barker and husband Nevil of Lexington, Susie Kiger of High Point, Sandra Glass and husband Kirk of AL, and Rose Marie Thompson and husband Ralph of TN. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME LEXINGTON and at other times at the home.
