Danny Darnell

Danny David Darnell, 67, of Sink Farm Road, died Friday, January 29 at Lexington Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 2pm Tuesday, February 2 at East End Baptist Church, where he was a member, by the Rev. Tim Gainey. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, masks are required. Burial will follow at the Lexington City Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Mr. Darnell was born June 13, 1953 in Davidson County to Garthard William Darnell and Frances Fern Davis Darnell. He retired as a truck driver for FedEx for 45 years, with a perfect driving record. His step-son, Ray Edward Bates, Jr, his brothers, Jerry Darnell and William Eugene Darnell, and his sister, Frankie Powell, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sylvia Townsend Darnell of the home; his daughter, Tricia Gaskell (Andy) of Winston-Salem; and his grandchildren, Trista Gaskell, Mazie Gaskell, and Savannah Leeann Bates. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to East End Baptist Church, 377 Heath Church Road, Lexington NC 27292.
