Darlene Perryman Sherman, 69, of Davidson County, passed away Friday morning, January 9, 2026, with her family by her side.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington.
A funeral will take place the following day, January 14, 2026, at 1:00 PM, at Rolling Heights Baptist Church, 228 Pineland Ave. Lexington, with Pastor Wayne Sechrest officiating.
Burial will conclude services at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 3250 High Point Rd. Winston-Salem, NC.
Darlene was born on March 13, 1956, in Forsyth County, to the late Arthur Eugene Perryman and Dorothy Juanita Smith Perryman. She worked until her retirement as a mail carrier for the Lexington Post Office.
She held an affinity for butterflies and was always reminded of her mom anytime one was around. Through her gardening and tending of her flowers and plants, she would enjoy being surrounded by the love she felt with each one nearby.
As she cultivated her garden, she displayed the love and care with a tender hand the same way she did toward her family. The nurturing she gave to her flowers was second only to what she gave her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her stepson, Junior.
Left to carry on her light are her loving husband, Jerry Sherman, of the home; daughters, Bobbie Wheeles (Bryan), of Lexington, and Shannon Peters (Nathan), of Thomasville; brother, Brian Perryman (Penny), of Texas; sister, Marcia Rowe (Richard), of Hickory; grandchildren, Preston Wheeles (Sierra), Mackenzie Wheeles, Bradley Peters, and Katelyn Peters; step-grandchildren, Ashley Sherman, Josh Sherman, and Amy Sherman; a host of great-grandchildren; and her darling fur babies, Mama and Little Bit.
