Darlyn Hanes Killian

Darlyn Hanes Killian, 80, of Davidson County, passed away peacefully at Alderwood Hospice of Davidson County on August 22, 2026.

Darlyn was born on January 21, 1946, in Davidson County, to the late Shady Hanes and Wilma Walser Hanes. A lifelong resident of Davidson County, she was a woman of strength, strong will, and selflessness. To her family, Darlyn was one of the strongest women they had ever known. She faced life with determination and a caring heart, always putting those she loved before herself.

Darlyn had a special love for animals, especially dogs. Her dog Mini held a very special place in her heart, as her two parakeets did. She also had a talent for cooking and was known by her family and friends for the love and care she put into preparing her meals.

In addition to her parents, Darlyn was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Killian; her beloved son, Timmy Wayne Killian; her brothers, Wesley Hanes and Baxter Hanes; and her sister, Joanna Leonard.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved daughter, Regina Williams; her grandchild, Aaron Williams (Sue Ellen Fields); her brother, Raeford Hanes; her sisters, Frances Cole, Charlotte Massengill, and Martha Stephens (Barry); and her very special friends, Carolyn and Peggy.

Darlyn leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, selflessness, and devotion to her family and the animals she cherished. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A funeral service to honor Darlyn's life will be held on Wednesday, August 26,2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Davidson Funeral Home of Lexington Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Dr. Clyde M. Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian, NC, starting at 1:00 p.m.

Family and friends are welcome to visit at Charlotte’s home.
