Darrell Joe Clodfelter

Darrell Joe Clodfelter passed away March 30, 2025 at his residence.

Darrell was born on November 20, 1941 in Lexington, NC, to John Wade Clodfelter and Connie May Grubb Clodfelter. He retired in 2004 from PPG as a fiberglass manufacturer. Darrell absolutely loved his church family and to sing gospel music. His first wife Kathy Frady Clodfelter, helped began his journey to music many years before her passing in 2009 due to stage 4 colon cancer. He formed a music group in 1978 called The New Life Singers, where they went around the state helping to spread the gospel of Jesus. Darrell met Josephine Michael, his current wife, during a music trip, where she became his “roadie” to tour together and help change CDs that he sang to. He also grew the nickname “Johnny Cash” by singing to others at the Senior Center in Lexington. Everyone at the Senior Center loved him for his voice and his god praising character. Darrell and Josephine also enjoyed going to their lake house and fish, attend Reeds Baptist Church, and travel.

Preceding him in death were his parents, first wife Kathy, sister Diane Hayes, step-son Tony Michael, and a nephew.

Survivors include his current wife Josephine Michael, step-son Jeffrey Wayne Michael (Linda) of Lexington and special nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 - 4:00 PM, on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Reeds Baptist Church.

A celebration of life will follow at 4:00 PM, at the church.
