Darryl Gene Lentini, age 85, of Lexington, NC, passed away at his home, Monday, January 23, 2023. Mr. Lentini was born June 26, 1937, in New Britain, Connecticut, to Mr. and Mrs. Angelo Lentini. Darryl served his country for twenty years as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was also a Master Sergeant. He won several medals, including two Bronze Stars. After retiring from the military, he was employed as a manager at Dillard Paper Company, Winston-Salem, NC. In addition to his parents, Darryl was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Lentini, whom he truly loved and missed so much. And, Sister, Cynthia Fetterman, New Britain, Connecticut. Left to cherish his memories are his two stepdaughters, who took care of him for years; Dawn Wood and husband Ed of Lowgap, NC. Robin Bowles and husband Donald of Rural Hall, NC. Christine Southern and Stan Southern of King, NC. Grandson, Levi Deaton and wife Alyssa of Mocksville, NC. One Brother, Wayne Lentini, Florida. Two Sisters, Andrea Lentini and Vanessa Lentini, New Britain, Connecticut. He will be missed by many of his friends that he sat with drinking coffee in the mornings at Bojangles. Darryl had a special caretaker, Vickie Phillippi, that he looked forward to seeing every morning. A special thanks to Ron Cranfill for visiting him often. Darryl had a special friend at Amvets that he had known for over thirty years, Dreama Ely…thanks Dreama for being a special friend to our stepdad and serving him his diet Cokes! A private memorial service will be held at a later date with Honor Guard present with Reverend Wayne Knight officiating.
