David Bruce Bivens Sr., 63, of Watkins Road, died Thursday, June 7, 2012, at his home following a short illness.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Messer officiating. Burial will follow at Arrington Heights Freewill Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Mr. Bivens was born July 8, 1948, in Davidson County, to John Franklin Bivens and Oleta Bean Bivens. He served in the U.S. Army and was retired from Creative Carpets after performing installations for many years. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Todd Bivens, who died August 22, 2010; son, David Bivens Jr.; and sister, Ruth Hughes.
Surviving are daughters, Penny Bivens and (Larry), and Jennifer Littleton and husband, Jason, both of Lexington; grandchildren, Hannah, Amelia, and Preston; great-grandchild, Myson; his mother of Lexington; brother, Jerry Bivens and wife, Tootsie, of Lexington; and sisters, Martha Berrier, Linda Milam, both of Lexington, and Carol Sykes of Georgia.
