David Blount

September 18, 1930 — April 27, 2012

David J. Blount, 81, of Penny Lane, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, April 27, 2012, at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Freedom Missionary Baptist Church by Preacher Clyde Akers. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at 317 Cedar Drive. Mr. Blount was born Sept. 18, 1930, in Hoke County to Marion David Blount and Cora Thompson Blount. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a retired fixer from Highland Yarn Mills. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Luke Dean, Bob Dean, and Curt Dean; and sisters, Mildred Hall, Sarah Akers, Flora Nichols and Kathleen Griggs. Surviving are his loving wife, Martha Rogers Blount, of the home; daughters, Barbara Kalantar and husband Hedy of Clarksville, Tenn., Vickie Tester and husband Bobby of Linwood and Kathy Dean and friend Tim Meade of Rockingham; seven grandchildren, Rodney Tester, Todd McBride, Jessica Marion and husband Shane, Hedy and Kyle Kalantar, Zack Stanford, Jenna Outen and Katie Outen; two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Landon Marion; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Lexington Dialysis, 233 Anna Lewis Drive, Lexington, NC 27292.
