David Lee Craft, 79, of Allred Rd., Lexington died Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at his home after 2 years of declining health. He was born September 21, 1928 in Lenoir county to Joseph Leon Craft, Sr. and Lena Belle Whaley Craft. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, October 11, 2007 at Hedrick’s Grove United Church of Christ with Pastor Butch Conrad officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
David was owner/operator of David Craft Builders, and a member of Hedrick’s Grove United Church of Christ. He was a US Navy veteran, having served in WWII during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Burnley Craft, 2 sisters, Helen Basden and Margaret Johnson.
Surviving are his wife, Beatrice Burkhart Craft of the home, a son, Stephen Craft of the home, a daughter, Susan Craft Wilson and husband Brian of Lexington, step daughter, Paula Breakfield of Lexington, 5 grandchildren, Scott Nelson, Matthew Wilson, Dawn Breakfield, Tatum Comer, Michael Abbington, 2 great grandchildren, Hunter Nelson and Gracie Nelson.
Also surviving are a brother, Joseph Leon Craft, Jr. of Gastonia, NC; sisters, Violet Stroud of Pink Hill, NC and Mary Lois Smith of Kinston, NC.
