David Edward (Ed) Ward

June 2, 1925 — August 4, 2009

David (Ed) Edward Ward, 84 of Old Hwy 29, Thomasville, died Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at his home.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday at Pilgrim Reformed Church with Rev. Barry Surratt officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.   Mr. Ward was born June 2, 1925 in Davidson County to John Daniel Ward and Lottie Fritts Ward.  A member of Pilgrim Reformed Church, he was a retired employee of Frank IX & Sons.  He was a US Army veteran having served in WWII.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Buford and Dan Ward and a sister, Jackie Farabee.   Surviving are his wife, Sarah Clodfelter Ward of the home, daughters, Susan Watson, Brenda Ward both of Welcome, Carolyn Harris of Thomasville, Cathy Barringer and husband Lamar of Albermarle;  9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; two brothers, John Ray Ward and Archie Ward of Lexington, five sisters, Edith Truitt, Doris Hedrick, Ruth Jolly, Kaye Everhart all of Lexington, and Mary Workman of Thomasville.   The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME and other times at the home.   Memorials should be directed to Pilgrim Reformed Church, 797 Pilgrim Road, Lexington, NC  27295 or to Crisis Ministry of Davidson County, 107 East First Street, Lexington, NC  27292     Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
