David Elwood Hege, 71, of Craver Road, died Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at Forsyth Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Enterprise Moravian Church, where he was a lifetime active member, with the Revs. Keith White and Arkon Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hege was born December 13, 1937, in Davidson County, to David Talmadge Hege and Annie Maude Clodfelter Hege. He was a retired truck driver from McLean Trucking Company and Roadway Trucking Company. Mr. Hege served in the National Guard. He was a devoted husband, daddy and grandpa.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Kay Berrier Hege of the home; son, Michael Elwood Hege and wife, Debbie, of Lexington; daughters, Rebecca Ann Young and husband, Edward, and Donna Kay McKinnish and husband, Garry, all of Lexington; grandchildren, David Wesley White, Brandon Michael Hege, Kevin Michael White, Megan Michelle Shafer, Alex Michael Shafer, Thomas Edward McKinnish, Ryan Ellas Hege, and Austin Jacob Young; and mother and father in law, George and Rebecca Berrier of Lexington.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel, and other times at the home.
