David "Gene" Eugene Keever, 71, of Old Mountain Road, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at his home.
The funeral will be Sunday, beginning at 2 p.m., at Freedom Missionary Baptist Church by Pastor Clyde Akers. Burial will be in Jersey Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Keever was born Oct. 13, 1934, in Guilford County to James Landis Keever and Fallie Williams Keever. He was the owner and operator of Gene's Upholstery and attended Freedom Baptist Church. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys "Tinker" Woodall Keever of the home; four sons, David Keever and his wife, Jane, of Shelby, Jimmy Keever and his wife, Robin, of Thomasville, Jackie Keever of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Johnny Eller and his wife, Kendall, of Lexington; four daughters, Sandra Martell of St. Petersburg, Fla., Debbie Vaughn of Shelby, Susie Poole and her husband, Sonny, and Darla Eller, all of Lexington; two sisters, Aurilla Summers of High Point and Becky Hartley and her husband, Keith, of Shelby; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a special friend, his loyal dog, Timmy.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel and other times at the home.
