David Marshall Lanning, age 86 of Helmstetler Road, Lexington passed away Friday morning at Hinkle Hospice House.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday morning in the Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with Rev. Edwin Chriscoe officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park with military honors by Davidson County Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Sunday.
Marshall was born in Davidson County, May 29, 1928 to David “Dave” Henderson Lanning and Sarah Lola Hedrick Lanning. He took great pride in his work in the furniture industry, and worked for United Furniture, Burlington Furniture and Stanley Furniture for 52 years. He was a member of Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, where he served in numerous positions including Trustee. He was a veteran of the US Army having proudly served his country in the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 49 years, Hilda Fritts Lanning; three sisters and one brother.
Surviving are his son, Ron Lanning and wife Barbara of Advance; granddaughter, Heather James (Matt); grandson, Justin Lanning (Brittney) all of Advance; great-grandchildren, Coy and Cam James of Advance and a very special friend, Doralena Rich and her family of Asheboro.
