David Lester Thore

David Lester Thore, 83, of Lexington passed away on Friday, September 20, 2019 at Hinkle Hospice House.

A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Saturday, October 5 ^th at Remade Community Church, 3844 NC Highway 8, Lexington, NC, with Eric Disher officiating the service.

David was born in Covington, Virginia on January 19, 1936 to Lester Henry and Nora Jean Joseph Thore.  He served in the United States Air Force and was a member of the American Legion Post 8.  David graduated from NC State College, in 1962, with a BS in Furniture Manufacturing and Management and retired after 39 years from Lexington Furniture Industries.  He was an Elder at Remade Community Church and enjoyed “Man Church” every week.  David was very talented and was an accomplished bass singer and had been a member of the Washington National Cathedral Boys Choir, as well as a member of Disciple Gospel singing group and various choirs.  He loved playing and watching sports his entire life, especially watching NC State.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 61 years, Barbara Haley Thore, of the home; daughter, Debbie Hedrick (Tom) of Lexington; sons, Charlie Thore (Donette) of Lexington and Michael Thore (Carla) of Woodinville, WA; sister, Eva Murdock, of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren, Heather Thore, Lori Beth Sink (Josh), Joseph Hedrick (Christine), Lindsay Esparza (Jose), Caleb Hedrick (Kelly), Haley Bizzell (Chris), Dylan Thore, Cooper Thore; great-grandchildren, Beau Sink, Jude Sink, Ginnie Claire Sink; and many special friends.

David was an advocate in helping and feeding the homeless as well as those in need.  Please consider feeding or helping someone and think of David when you do.  Memorials can be made to Hinkle Hospice  House, Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292
