David Tillinghast Ulmer, 76, of Miller Lane Lexington, died Friday April 13, 2018 at his home. A funeral service will be held 11:00am Monday April 23, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, where he was a member, with Dr. Lee Zehmer officiating services. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery in Salisbury with Military Graveside Rites. He was prceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Ulmer. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 Sunday April 22, 2018 at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Mr. Ulmer was born July 25, 1941 in Charleston County South Carolina to Jesse Willard Ulmer and Effie Goude Ulmer. He was retired from PPG and the United States Army, and member of the Military Order of Foreign Wars, The DAV, the Amvets and Crime Stoppers. During his career in the United States Military, Mr. Ulmer received the Purple Heart Award, and the Saudi Arabian Medal of Honor. Surviving is his wife, Patrica Jane Waterfield Ulmer of the home; one son, Brian Ulmer of Lexington; one daughter, Sherry Blair of Winston Salem; and one sister Jessie Johnson and husband Gordan of Florida.
