David Lafayette Ward, age 81 of East Holly Grove Road, Lexington passed away Friday morning September 11, 2015 at Hinkle Hospice House. A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 5:00 pm in the Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with Mr. Steve Walser officiating. There will be no public visitation. David was born in Davidson County August 17, 1934 to Ira Lee and Maggie Conrad Ward. He was a former member of Holly Grove Lutheran Church, a retired employee of City of Lexington, Water Treatment Plant and a veteran of the US Army. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Charlotte (Chris) Ward; sisters, Martha Ward Leonard and Betty Ward Scarlett; brother, John Lee Ward. Surviving are his daughters, Lenora Smith (Rick) of Vale, NC and Anita Ward of the home; granddaughters, Monica Cooper Walser (Steve) of Lexington and Jennifer Rose Cooper of Galveston, TX; 2 great-grandchildren, Maia Cooper and Branson Walser; a sister, Daisy Ward Huffman of Arcadia. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, family and friends who loved him dearly.
