Davy Lee Smith, 90, of Lexington, passed away March 4, 2024, at his home in Lexington.
A celebration of his life will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church where he was a member, with the Rev. Jeremy Benbrooks officiating the service and burial will follow in the Forest Hill Memorial Park with rites by Davidson County Fireman Honor Guard. Family will receive friends one hour before the service in the church.
Davy was born November 3, 1933, in Davidson County, to David Hampton Smith and Lillie Mae Trantham Smith. Davy was a member of Sheets Memorial Baptist Church; he was a veteran having served in the Army National Guard, retired as Captain with Lexington Fire Department. He loved fishing and the outdoors, was known as a whizz when it comes to small engines. He and Penny loved to go to Carolina Beach and spend time on the Pier and the ocean. His passion was his faith, church, family and especially his grandchildren. Davy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, who will be missed by all. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Lee Smith, and sister, Audrey Smith Hardin.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Mary Alice “Penny” Smith of the home; son, Bryan Smith (Debbie) of Lexington; daughter-in-law, Laura Long Smith, of Winston Salem, grandchildren, Colton Wesley Smith, Clinton Logan Smith, Mason Wedel, Morgan Cross, and Taylor Cross; and 2 great grandchildren, Aaron and Weston. Also surviving is his sister, Rosiland Smith Walker of Lexington.
