Rickey “Dean” Leonard, 77, of Lexington, passed away April 7, 2023, at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 at the home.
Dean was born February 17, 1946, in Davidson County, to Robert Lee Leonard Sr. and Pearl Victoria Craver. Dean was a member of Beck’s Lutheran Church, was a truck driver with Yellow Freight with 36 years of service. He was a caring and loving person who enjoyed helping people. Dean loved to hang out with the grumpy old men’s group at Biscuit King on Hwy 8, he was referred to as the ring leader and the mayor of Linwood. His passion was his family and especially his grandchildren and great granddaughter. Dean was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, who will be missed by all. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Herman, and Boyd Leonard, and his sisters, Ruby Essick, Mae Smith, and Pauline Weaver.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 57 years, Phyllis Beck Leonard of the home, his daughter, Leslie Norris and husband Daniel, son, Randall Leonard and wife Stephanie all of Lexington; also surviving are his grandchildren, Jacob Norris, Katie, Cody, and Randi Leonard, and Duane Holt, his great granddaughter, McKenzie Holt, brother, Jack Leonard and sister, Lois Weaver both of Welcome. And his beloved dog Kiki
