Delano “Del” Roosevelt Eads, 82, went home to be with Jesus Monday morning October 9, 2017 at Hinkle Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. A 3:00 p.m. memorial service will be held Thursday October 12, 2017at Davidson Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service A Surry County (Siloam) native Del was born August 7, 1935 the son of, Caleb Oliver Eads and Margaret Tate Eads. Del was a 1955 graduate of Hanes High School. He was a longtime member of Vernon Forest Baptist Church, where he sang in the church choir, served as secretary-treasurer of the Sunday school and was an active member in the scripture publishing ministry. Del retired from C.F. Sauers Spice Company. In addition to his parents Delano was preceded in death by, a sister, Lorene Blanton and granddaughter, Kylie Lynn Norris. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Virginia Everhart Eads of the home; two children, Denese Gardner and husband Matt of Lexington and son Del Raven Eads and wife Jill of Clemmons; eight grandchildren, Madison Eads, Matthew Gardner, Hannah Norris, Connor Eads, Olivia Norris, Taylor Eads, Lyndsey Gardner and Olivia Gardner; two sisters, Irene Kimel and husband Raymond of Winston-Salem and Arlene Dunn of King. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be sent to Hinkle Hospice, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 or Vernon Forest Baptist Church, 274 Mount Vernon Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
