Delbert Lee Dotson, 79, of Plumstead Lane, passed away Friday December 25 at his residence after declining health. He was born April 13, 1930 in McEwen Tennessee to Louis Elbert and Ethel Anne Greene Dotson. He was retired from General Motors, Fisher Body Division in Pontiac Michigan. Delbert served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and the U.S. Army 3rd infantry division during the Korean Conflict, in which he was awarded the Bronze Star with valor and Purple Heart, and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death, by two brothers, J. B. Dotson , and Robert Lee Dotson and two sisters, Mary Ellen Dotson Cummings, and Beatrice Dotson Bryant Renshaw.
Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday December 30, 2009 at the National Cemetery in Salisbury NC
Delbert is survived by his wife of 60 years Elizabeth Gertrude Warren Dotson of the home; one son Paul B. Dotson and his wife Kathleen of Little Rock Arkansas; two daughters Nancy Diane Short and husband Steve of Clemmons, and Judy Ellen King and husband Billy Joe of New Bern; 7 grandchildren, Sandra Jean Orender, Sarah Lynn Schroeder, Jennifer Kaye Daves, Matthew Lee Short, Paul Michael Short, Mark Andrew King, and Stephannie Renne King; and 6 great-grandchildren, Aaron Matthew Orender, Justin Paul Orender, Austin James Schroeder, Andrew Ryan Schroeder, Emma Kaye Daves, and Grant Russell Daves; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no formal visitation held.
