Delbert Hoover Phillips

October 4, 1928 — July 15, 2017

Delbert Hoover Phillips, 88, of Forest Hill Road, died Saturday, July 15, 2017, at his home.  The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Wayside Baptist Tabernacle Church with the Rev. Joe Marler officiating. Burial with military graveside rites by Davidson County Honor Guard will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and other times at the home on Forest Hill Road.  Mr. Phillips was born October 4, 1928, in Ashe County, NC, to Calvin M. Phillips and Elizabeth Miller Phillips. He served in the U.S. Army and later retired from Thomasville Furniture where he served as a supervisor for many years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Eula Mae Evans Phillips, who died January 18, 2010; daughter, Mary Pryon; grandson, Phillip Morris; several brothers; and several sisters.  Surviving are sons, James H. Riddle and James D. Phillips, both of Lexington; daughters, Ruby Morris (Steve), Belva Reynolds, Debbie P. Everhart (Jerry Wayne), Doris Wood (Tommy), and Connie McLemore (Barry); 21 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great grandchildren.  Memorials may be made to Wayside Baptist Tabernacle Church, 104 Forest Hill Road, Lexington, NC 27295.
