Delmar Burleson, 84, of Old Hwy 75 in Lexington, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, April 19, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Silver Valley Baptist Church with Revs. Harold Harper, III, Brian Smith and Gene Little officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington and other times at the home. Mr. Burleson was born on January 1, 1934 in Avery County, NC to John Dixon Burleson and Mae Burleson Burleson. He retired after 40 years from Burlington Industries and also was a farmer. Delmar was a member of Silver Valley Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Steven Wayne Burleson and brothers, Ted Burleson, Lee Burleson, Olin Burleson and J.D. Burleson. Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Doris Hedrick Burleson, of the home; sons, Dale Burleson of Wake Forest, NC, and Jeff Burleson (Rhonda) of Whitmire, SC; daughter, Belinda Burleson Mull (Todd) of Lexington, NC; daughter-in-law, Deborah Beck Burleson Leffew of Lexington, NC; sister, Bernice Potter (Bill) of Boone, NC, and 7 grandchildren, Jonathan Burleson (Aimee), Andrew Burleson (Carrie), Dustin Burleson, Bradley Burleson, Benjamin Burleson, Amanda Mull, Thomas Mull and one great-grandchild, Molly Burleson.
