Delmar James Leonard

Delmar James Leonard, 81, of Ravenwood Lane, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, at Brian Center Nursing Home. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at National Cemetery, Salisbury. Mr. Leonard was born March 25, 1926, in Davidson County to David Howard Leonard and Ada Elizabeth Edwards Leonard. He was a retired employee of Lexington Abrasives Belts and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Cody Leonard; five brothers; and two sisters. Surviving are two stepsons, David Samuel Leonard Jr. and his wife, JoAnn, and Johnny Leonard and his wife, Betina, all of Lexington; a stepdaughter, Nancy Jean Rummage and her husband, Randy, of Lexington; four stepgrandchildren, David Scott Leonard, Tina Ann Leonard, Chad Dwayne Rummage and Jonathan Blake Leonard; and a sister, Eva Mae Byerly of Thomasville. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel
