Dena Martin

Dena Alaine (Yokley) Martin, 76, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023, at Trellis Supportive Care in Winston-Salem.

Dena was born on February 9, 1947, in High Point. She was the daughter of the late Arnold B. and Charlotte (Turner) Yokley. Most of the time, Dena could be found cooking, baking, taking her chances on gambling trips, watching the Braves, NASCAR, or the Food Network, and surrounding herself with family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister who cherished time with her children, grandchildren, and siblings more than anything.

Dena is survived by two sons, Tony Martin and Scott Martin (Trang); a daughter, Christy Martin; two brothers, Gary “Buck” Yokley (Sandra) and Larry Yokley (Glenda); two sisters, Shirley Berrier (Max) and Linda Board; eleven grandchildren, Amber Rhyne (Stephen), Sean Martin (Melissa), Andrew Martin, Christian Martin (Chelsea), Alyssa Martin, Shayla Sanders, Charlotte Anne and Adam Martin, Emma Simmons, Callie and Nicholas Dillard; six great-grandchildren, Kyleigh and Rylan King, Grace Martin, Lena and Jackson Martin, and Mayes Martin; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Dena was preceded in death by her son, Darren Burrus Martin, and two sisters, Judy Embler and Leslie Eaton.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 3rd, 2023 from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 pm. Both services will be held at Davidson Funeral Home: 848 Hickory Tree Rd, Winston Salem, NC 27107.  The family will have a private burial service at Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
