Dennis Butts

Dennis Carroll Butts, age 73 of Lexington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. A private graveside service will be held with military honors. The body will lie in state on Tuesday, August 31st from 12:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington. The family will not be present. Dennis was born on April 26, 1948 in Danville, VA to Jonnie Clyde Butts, Jr. and Beatrice Williams Butts. He was a member of Near Calvary Freewill Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He served in the United States Army in Vietnam and was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Hazel Underwood Butts. Left to cherish his memory are his step-son, Jesse Howard (Diane) of Lexington; daughter, Becky Walser (Rev. Jeff Walser) of Lexington; half-brother, Keith Allen (Julie) of Rural Hall; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Near Calvary Freewill Baptist Church, 335 Lee Smith Road, Lexington, NC 27292.
