Dennis Kirkman, 77, of Lexington, passed away on November 26, 2025, at the VA Medical Center-CLC, Salisbury NC. Mr. Kirkman served in the 25th Infantry Division of the US Army after being drafted in 1968. While serving his country in Vietnam, he was severely wounded and awarded the Purple Heart for his injuries.
Mr. Kirkman was born in Cabarrus County to the late George Kirkman and Nora Fesperman Kirkman,
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Chad Kirkman and grandson, Austin Kirkman.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Moore Kirkman; daughter, Karen Goodyear, and son-in-law, Phillip Goodyear; and granddaughter, Nora Goodyear; two step grandchildren, Brock Goodyear and Samantha McIntire along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Kirkman graduated from South Rowan High School, class of ’67. He graduated from Pfeiffer College in ’74 and went on to work for the Department Veterans Affairs, Winston-Salem, for 28 years. He was a member of various Veterans Organizations. One particular club he was a member of was the ROMEO’s of Clemmons. These were retired VA employees and veterans. He has such great memories of the Friday lunches at Little Richards in Clemmons.
Mr. Kirkman loved to travel, and he visited many states and countries. He enjoyed watching baseball and football, grilling and fishing.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, December 5, 2025, at West Lawn Memorial Park in the Mausoleum Chapel in China Grove with Rev. David Langley officiating.
