Dennis Edward Lanier

September 10, 1950 — April 5, 2021

Dennis Edward Lanier, 70, of Lexington, passed away suddenly at his home, April 5, 2021. He will lie in state at Davidson Funeral Home on Friday, April 9, 2021 from 1-4 PM. Memorial services will be at a later date. There will not be a formal visitation.

Dennis was born in Forsyth County September 10, 1950 to Donald Melvin Lanier and Grace Lanier Beck. He attended Fulton Methodist Church in Davie County. He was on the Board of Directors at Linwood Fire Department, a member of the Amvets Post 13, Sons of the Amvets, and American Legion.

Dennis was an avid fisherman, winning the NC Saltwater Fishing Tournament for the biggest Bluefish. He also loved to Deer hunt, which showed by the trophies in his home.

Dennis loved his friends at Amvets Post 13, for which he enjoyed cooking BBQ for their benefits along with his son, Mitch.

He loved spending time with his family, cooking out, swimming, gardening, and most of all, mowing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Roy Lee Beck; brother, Don Lanier; nephew, Phil Owens; niece, Layne Robertson; and his two dogs, whom he loved so much, Holly and Bella.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Becky Jones Lanier of the home; sons, Dennis Melvin Lanier of Lexington, Mitchell Lee Lanier of the home; grandsons, Devin Lanier and Mason Lanier; sisters, Judy K. Koontz of Churchland, Carol Whitaker of Reeds; plus many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to thank Linwood Fire Department and volunteers. Also Davidson County Ambulance Service for their tireless effort that they gave to Dennis. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
