Derek Delone Bowers

Derek Delone Bowers, 68, of Holloways Church Road in Lexington, passed away Wednesday October 23, 2024 at Wake Forest Baptist High Point Medical Center in High Point. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Monday October 28, 2024 at Holloways Baptist Church with Rev. Glen Gunter officiating the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Monday in the church fellowship hall. Mr. Bowers was born August 16, 1956 in Davidson County to Kenneth Delone Bowers and Patricia Loretta Owens Bowers. Derek enjoyed reenacting, history, and genealogy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Joyce Shirley Bowers; his parents, his father-in-law Boyd Shirley; and brother-in-law, Kevin Epley. Surviving are two sons; Jason Bowers (Kyle Ann) of Lexington and Brett Bowers ( Nancy ) of Spartanburg SC; one sister, Kendall (Johnny) of Lexington; 1 grandchild, Liza Joyce Bowers; mother-in- law Loretta Shirley; sister-in-law, Melissa Epley; 2 nephews, John Adam Eller and Josh Epley; 2 nieces, Korbin Eller and Meagan Hogston (Charlie); 3 great nephews, Carter, Adam and Zaiden Eller; and his four-legged partner in crime, Dansby Bowers.
