Derek Christian Hammer Sr.

Derek Christian Hammer, Sr., 58, of Lexington passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.

A memorial service will be held Saturday July 22, 2023, at 11:00 am, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lomax Skinner officiating and military honors to follow. Visitation with family and friends will be held prior to the service from 10:30 am until 11:00 am. The service will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/davidson.funeralhome

Derek was born on April 9, 1965, in Richmond, Virginia to William Hammer and Kathleen Shultz.  He was a chief petty officer in the US Navy for 24 years. He enjoyed smoking meat/barbecuing, online gaming, and watching war movies.   He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Julie McGaha Hammer of the home; his sons, Derek Christian Hammer Jr, (Ashley) of Virginia, Dustin Hammer (Mikayla) of Louisiana; sister, Lori Alderman; granddaughter, Maisie Hammer and several special cousins.
