Dewette Elizabeth Briggs Lohr, of Lexington passed away Monday, November 23, 2009 at Alston Brook Nursing Home.
A service of Celebration of her life will be held at Beck’s Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 5 conducted by Rev. Ray Sipe and Rev. Ruth Ann Sipe.
Mrs. Lohr was born April 3, 1914, in Davidson County to John Hilary Briggs and Fallie Smith Briggs. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard Elmo Lohr; a daughter, Elizabeth Eve Lohr; a sister, Treva Briggs Greer; and a brother, John Briggs, Jr.
She was a graduate of Linwood High School and Appalachian State University. She taught first grade at Robbins Elementary School and Davis Townsend Elementary School for many years. She was an active member of Becks Lutheran Church where she served as a teacher and President of the Women’s Missionary Society
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Sue Lohr Forrest, and Fallie Ann Lohr Cecil and her husband Richard Cecil all of Lexington; a sister Peggy Briggs Klass and her husband Jack Edward Klass of Lexington; six grandchildren, Caroline Elizabeth Forrest of Atlanta, Ga. Tyler Lohr Forrest, of Lexington, Richard K. Cecil, Jr. and his wife Regena Maxey-Cecil, of Cary, David Lohr Cecil and wife Amy Holbrooks Cecil, of Jamestown and Ellen Elizabeth Cecil King, of North Myrtle Beach, SC; four great-grandchildren, Richard William Cecil, Olivia Simone Cecil, Dillon Elizabeth King and Savannah Meredith King.
The family will receive friends at the church senior parlor from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service.

The family appreciates the love and support given Mrs. Lohr by her caregiver, Karen (Mrs. Roger) Allred, by the entire staff at Alston Brook Nursing Home for the excellent care of our mother and by her many friends and her church family.
Mrs. Lohr was a unique and positive person who showed kindness to all.
