Dixie Holyfield Kiger, 97, of Alston Brook, formerly of Welcome, passed away Sunday night (March 8, 2015) at Alston Brook.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel, with Rev. Mark Blair officiating and burial will follow in First Baptist of Welcome Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Dixie was born in Surry County, June 1, 1917, to Eugene Holyfield and Bertha Adkins Holyfield. She was a retired employee of Dixie Furniture and loved working in her yard taking care of her flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, James Henry Kiger.
Surviving are her son, James Leroy Kiger and wife Frances of Lexington; grandchildren, Jamie Clodfelter and husband Anthony and Marla Dilday and husband Stephen; great-grandchildren, Cameron Clodfelter and wife Liz, Cale Clodfelter, Callie Shoaf, Courtney Shoaf and Cate Dilday; and special friend Louise Freedle.
