I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; 2 Timothy 4:7; R. “Big Don” Biesecker, age 75 of Idlewild Drive, Lexington left his family and friends to join his Lord on Sunday, September 13, 2009 after a two month illness. The celebration of Don’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday (9-16-2009) in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Burt Williams and Rev. Don Leonard officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park with military honors by VFW Post 3074.
Don was born in Davidson County, February 12, 1934 to E. Ray Biesecker and Tempie Everhart Biesecker. He was a retired employee of Hoest Celanese. He was a veteran of the Korean War and played football for the Army while stationed in Germany. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Sidney Biesecker, James David Biesecker, Betty Leonard and Martha Jones.
Surviving Don are: his wife of 56 years, Margaret Powell Biesecker; two daughters, Donna Biesecker Long and husband Joe, Sherry Biesecker Crotts and husband Perry; two sons; David Garland Biesecker and special friend Wanda Savage and Bob Biesecker, Jr. and wife Jackie; the love of his life; grandchildren, Cassandra Long Sink and husband Shannon, Megan Lynn Long and fiancée Shane Condrey, Hannah Elizabeth Biesecker, Christopher David Biesecker and fiancé Erika Walser, Robert Don Biesecker, III and William Brannon Biesecker; two brothers, Joe Biesecker and wife Gail and Charles Biesecker and wife Amelia; two sisters, Doris Biesecker Stimson and husband Dick and Patsy Biesecker Grubb and husband Wayne; brother-in-laws, Tommy Jones and Dwight Leonard and wife Denise. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews and other special family members and loved ones, Trey Savage, Holly Duckett, Blake Savage and Sterling Savage;
Special thanks to the doctors and staff of Forsyth and Special Care Hospital, and to his loving niece Annette Biesecker Montgomery and the staff of MEDI Home Health.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday night and at other times at the home.
